Blog Post #21: Fall Color Begins

Blog #21 Featured Image

I always find myself excited and a little bit anxious as September comes to the High Sierra. I’m excited at the prospect of finding and photographing vibrant colors as aspen leaves begin to turn. I’m anxious at the possibility of missing peak color in some of my favorite locations. I also don’t feel comfortable when hoards of photographers descend upon the June Lake Loop, a favorite location for catching glorious Fall color. I understand a photographer’s distraction when looking for the perfect spot to shoot. However, stopping suddenly in the middle of the road without any regard for other cars creates the perfect conditions for accidents. We drove the road to Rock Creek the other day to check out Fall color. There were promising stretches of turning and turned aspen leaves. At the Mosquito Flat parking area and along Rock Creek I found mustard yellow willows and grasses. I will come back again within the next couple of weeks. Hopefully I will be able to capture some good images.
