We hadn’t visited Hoover Dam in several years, but recently planned a family trip to introduce our granddaughter to this engineering marvel. We were shocked to discover how the water level of Lake Mead below the Dam had diminished. The former level was clearly defined by a white line along the cliffs surrounding the Lake. Still impressive was man’s determination in 1931 to control past flooding of the Colorado River, to create hydro-electric power and make precious water available to surrounding states.
