Crowley Lake was created in 1944 by LADWP (Los Angeles Department of Water and Power) as a result of building the Long Valley Dam. The Lake is a reservoir for water headed to LA via an aqueduct. Tourists and locals alike enjoy fishing in Crowley Lake. I enjoy visiting a natural phenomenon on the east side of the lake called the Crowley Columns. Scientists have solved the mystery of the columns which began to appear shortly after the creation of the Lake. (Check out https://www.lakescientist.com/mystery-of-crowley-lake-columns-solved/).
On our several trips to photograph the columns, we judged our ability to navigate the area according to the depth of the Lake. On this day, the water was low so we were able to follow the shoreline beyond the columns. The Lake reflected the blue sky and the mountains.
