Blog Post #5 – Hiker’s Paradise

We like to climb Duck Pass most every season. This past August we decided that Covid19 wasn’t going to stop us. We hung a mask around our necks for quick access when passing other hikers on the trail. Most everyone we saw put on masks when approaching us and, when possible, distanced themselves as we passed. This day was a perfect one – not too hot and windy. This is a 9.5 mile round trip hike with 2100′ elevation gain so we get a nice “huff and puff” workout. From my perspective, the clouds were a photographic gift. Views on the way up the Pass are spectacular (I’ll share a few in a later blog). Duck Lake reveals itself just around the bend as the top of the Pass is reached. We ate out lunch slowly and absentmindedly, taking in the beauty of the landscape.
